The meeting of the Eurasian Studies Group of the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs titled Review of the Latest Situation of the Ukraine Crisis: Future Prospects and Peace Plans was held with the presence of a group of managers and senior experts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and researchers of the country's think tanks at the location of this Institute on August 26, 2023. In this meeting, the topics of the Ukrainian war trend, possible scenarios and prospects for the war's end in military, political, and economic dimensions, and peace plans were discussed and exchanged.
In the said meeting, while referring to the investigation of the latest field situation of the two sides of the war, it was stated that peace plans should be paid attention to in the framework of the perspective of resolving the crisis in Ukraine and the issue of peace plans is still not a very important and decisive variable in the trend of war events. Also, regarding the prospect of resolving and ending the war, three variables should be examined: military, economic, and political.
Regarding the peace plans to end the Ukraine crisis, the dimensions of China's peace plan and the recent Jeddah summit initiated by Saudi Arabia were examined, during which the features of the summit above included the dimensions of the presence of emerging powers, strategic dialogue on the issues of peace, integration, maintaining territorial integrity and territorial sovereignty and not inviting Russia as one of the main parties to the war was explained. At the end of the summit, the permanent position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the end of the war and the establishment of peace between the parties in any region of the world, especially Ukraine, was emphasized.
