On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Dean of the College of Public Policy, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar, spoke about global issues and how to address them, as well as the current international order, with senior experts from the Center for Studies (IPIS) at the Center. At the meeting, he stated that addressing global issues and problems, such as climate change, requires global policy and responses, as well as international cooperation. He also stated the economic paradigm of the free market has led to the inequalities and social tensions increasing, and eventually the deligitimisation of the current international order.

At the end, the IPIS experts stated in their opinions that in practice, some international institutes like the UN and a number of countries are decision-makers about structural changes in the said organization and prioritization of subjects. The current international order is in a crisis because it is not represented by all countries and is not based on justice. Many countries in Asia, Africa and Europe are facing oppression and injustice. The current international order represents only interests of some powerful countries in relation to political and economic issues, while other world powers like China want a redefinition of it based on consideration of the subject of justice and concerns from other countries.
