According to historical documents, the meeting of the specialized library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This meeting was held in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Hassan Dr. Shaykh al-Islami, head of the Institute for Political and International Studies, Hojjat al-Islam Sayyed Mahmoud Marashi Najafi, head of the Library of Ayatollah Marashi Najafi, and a group of scientific and cultural figures in the field of books.

At the opening meeting, Dr. Shaykh al-Islami stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs library is one of the oldest libraries with a history of one hundred years. The purpose of this library was to provide the necessary facilities for research in this field. This library is now one of the most important sources in diplomacy, politics, and foreign relations, with a collection of specialized books and publications.

The head of the Institute for Political and International Studies, emphasizing the need to pay attention to the background of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs library, explained: when we look at the history of this library, we realize its effectiveness because it has been providing useful services to political affairs and researchers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for years.

Dr. Shaykh al-Islami continued by announcing that the specialized library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not doing well these days: because the number of readers and members who were constantly visiting the library has reduced because the restriction of allocation of credentials has made it difficult to provide up-to-date resources because every day the number of loving librarians is reduced, because every day we believe less, that without books, something is missing from human life.

Emphasizing the role of a news-making event such as the opening of the exhibition of historical documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Library, he continued: We can use this opportunity for the book and the library and strive to exploit this field. The documents displayed at the specialized library show the valuable resources of this library. The development and expansion of the specialized library with modern technology can facilitate the provision of services and improve the condition of the library.

In continuation of Hojjat al-Islam, Hojjat al-Islam Sayyed Mahmoud Marashi Najafi, pointing out that he has been familiar with the book since he was 14 years old, said: Unfortunately, the book has not been paid as much attention as it should be in our country. My late father used to say that in his youth, the representative of the British consul used to buy and take handwritten books. The father said that they want to destroy our culture from the inside.

The head of the library, Ayatollah Marashi Najafi, said that the library is the intellectual space of people and continued: We are ready to cooperate with any help from our library to improve the conditions of the library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the Qajar period, the establishment of a library was considered by the authorities.

Also, Mojdeh Mohammadi presented a report of the library about archival documents and said: In most of the documents, it is written that this library was established in 1931; when I re-examined the documents, I realized that the background of this center was older and it dates back to the establishment of the political science school in the Qajar period. During the Qajar period, the establishment of the library was considered by the authorities, and in the post-Qajar period, measures were also taken. In 1949, the first library statute and council was written. The Library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is one of the oldest libraries with a statute.
